Quick Analysis

What these mean

Market Tone — median daily move across world indices plus breadth (how many are up). Robust to one outlier index.

10Y–2Y Curve — 10-year minus 2-year yield. Negative = inverted, historically a recession warning.

30Y–10Y Curve — long-end slope; positive = steepening.

US VIX — expected S&P 500 volatility. Below 18 calm, 18–25 elevated, above 25 fear.

Gold/Silver Ratio — ounces of silver per ounce of gold; high (>80) often signals risk-off.

Brent–WTI Spread — global vs US crude benchmark gap.

1D vs 1M/2M/3M — each tile shows the daily change and the change over the selected chart window.

Methodology & data notes

How this dashboard works

Data providers. US Treasury yields come from FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis), official end-of-day. All other instruments — currencies, world indices, precious metals and crude — come from Yahoo Finance, quoted on roughly a 15-minute delay.

Delay policy. Nothing here is real-time. FX, indices and commodities are ~15 min delayed; Treasury yields are end-of-day; when an exchange is closed the last available close is shown and tagged Closed. The freshness legend at the top maps each colour.

Market Tone. The median daily move across ten major world indices, combined with breadth (how many are up). Median is used rather than a simple average so a single outlier — a big Nikkei day, say — doesn't swing the read. Risk-On needs a positive median with broad participation; Risk-Off the reverse; otherwise Mixed / Range-bound.

Equity Breadth. The count of those ten indices trading up on the day, shown as “n/10 up”, with the average daily move alongside.

USD proxy. A simple dollar-direction gauge: the average of USD's daily move against EUR, GBP and JPY (EUR/USD and GBP/USD are inverted so that “up” always means a stronger dollar). It is an indicative direction, not the official DXY index.

Refresh & caching. The page auto-refreshes on your chosen interval and reads a server-side cache, so repeat visits are fast. If a refresh fails it keeps showing the last good data and retries automatically. “Market data as of” is the timestamp of the underlying data; “Last successful update” is when your browser last received it.

Time zone. All times shown in IST (Asia/Kolkata).
